About The Position

The Phlebotomist collects blood specimens, performs laboratory office duties, and processes laboratory specimens at Franciscan Health Lafayette East in Lafayette, Indiana. Office duties include registering patients, accurately entering required information into the computer system, accessioning specimens, answering telephone calls, and processing paperwork. Specimen processing includes preparing specimens for testing or for shipment to a central or reference laboratory. The role handles blood, body fluid, and urine specimens according to established procedures and may perform authorized limited waived and specified non-waived point-of-care tests. At some facilities, the Phlebotomist may also drive and participate in an on-call rotation. The posted schedule is 3:00 PM–11:30 PM, with Saturday and Sunday hours of 1:00 PM–9:00 PM, and weekend and/or holiday rotation. This is a 20-hour-per-week, 0.5 FTE position.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training.
• Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
• May be required to travel or drive to other locations.

Nice To Haves

• Background in a medical laboratory and/or knowledge of medical terminology.
