About The Position

Under the direction of the Laboratory Coordinator, Practice Manager and/or site Medical Director, this role collects blood specimens using venipuncture or capillary puncture techniques. The Phlebotomist instructs patients in the collection of urine and other body fluids/specimens, processes specimens correctly, and tracks receipt of results. Under the direction of a qualified instructor, the Phlebotomist performs lab testing after documented training is established. This is a 24-hour scheduled weekly position.

Requirements

Ability to perform venipuncture and capillary collection techniques proficiently and safely.
Attention to detail and effective organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Knowledge of and adherence to universal precaution techniques and requirements.
Completion of a 12 week orientation period.
Command of verbal and written English.
Positive interpersonal communication skills.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to effectively communicate to all age levels served within the scope of the position/assigned areas.
Must have the ability to perform essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or other individuals in the workplace, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
