Inpatient Phlebotomist, 2nd Shift, Full-Time .9 FTE. Phlebotomist/Registration: Working in a single assigned work area, provides specimen collection, registration and processing services to patients in the main hospital, outpatient lab draw stations, and mental health and skilled nursing facilities at off-site locations and clinics. High volume work, 50% of duties involve computer utilization with targets to meet. Provides clerical support to the Pathology Department and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Valid Michigan driver's license.
• Must be able to type 40 words per minute.
• Must be able to work as early as 4 am for first shift.
• First month or so will be full time training on the shift you are hired for.
• Every third weekend is required to work and 2-3 holidays a year required.
• Driver's license and reliable transportation required for commuting to different locations as needed.
• About 50% specimen collection and 50% data entry and registration/computer related work.

Nice To Haves

• ASCP certification for Phlebotomy (must obtain certification within one year of hire) preferred.
• Six months Phlebotomy experience STRONGLY desired, including experience from school.

Responsibilities

• Provides specimen collection, registration and processing services to patients in the main hospital, outpatient lab draw stations, and mental health and skilled nursing facilities at off-site locations and clinics.
• Provides clerical support to the Pathology Department.
• Processing and registration of samples received from physician offices for testing.
• May be located at any outpatient draw stations around Grand Rapids; required to float to any health park when needed.
• Travels daily between multiple nursing homes, corporate entities and residential facilities.
