About The Position
Draws and collects blood samples from all age patients, verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. Relies on SOP instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under Phlebotomy Lead/ immediate supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification by a nationally recognized body (ASCP preferred)
- Knowledge of commonly collecting devices
- Knowledge of anatomy concepts
- Knowledge of best practice collections
- Knowledge of disinfection procedures
- Competent to work independently
- Knowledgeable to maintain Worklist & keep up with order timeline
- Knowledgeable to ensure quick receipt of specimens into the lab system
- Knowledgeable to attest to patient identification / tube accuracy
- Knowledgeable of the correct tubes needs plus the order of draw
- Follows instructions
- Self-sufficient once deemed competent
- Possesses team-mindedness
