About The Position

Our phlebotomist plays an important role in providing quality, proficient and professional laboratory services to Lakewood Health System patients. Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills when working directly with providers, leadership, coworkers, and assistants regarding patient or testing concerns.
  • As a part of a team-oriented laboratory crew who prioritize coworkers as well as patients, the phlebotomist will assume the best in others and collaboratively problem solve as a valued member of the team.
  • Utilizes AIDET model of customer service to calmly and pleasantly interact with patients and families.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy certificate preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Will exhibit problem solving skills of a complex nature, participate in Quality Assurance, Quality Control Monitoring, specimen processing, phlebotomy, along with customer service
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of new procedures, products and equipment used in laboratory medicine to act as a resource and provide clinical expertise
  • Performs preventive maintenance in assigned areas to keep equipment in optimal working order
  • Will perform and report tests of waived and moderately complexed labs, as defined by CLIA, on patients of all ages to assist with the routine screening, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and injuries.
