The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood, and non-blood, specimens using appropriate blood collection equipment according to the Laboratory Specimen Collection Manual and Phlebotomy Procedures. The role involves interpreting verbal and written physician orders, obtaining blood specimens from patients of all ages, handling and processing lab specimens, and following safe practices. Additional duties may include performing outpatient EKGs, operating a centrifuge, ensuring proper specimen transfer and storage, and communicating with the outpatient lab central scheduler, regional coordinators, and managers. The position may require travel between sites for unscheduled absences and/or emergencies. Employees are expected to continuously review and comply with all Network and departmental policies and procedures.
