JOB SUMMARY According to established policies and procedures, obtains blood and other specimens for laboratory testing according to physicians’ orders. Obtains needed supplies, verifies patient identification, prepares skin site and performs venipunctures according to established aseptic techniques. Labels specimens and transport it to Laboratory for analysis.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- PBT (ASCP) certification or equivalent preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Post high school education through accredited phlebotomy training program preferred.
Responsibilities
- Obtains blood and other specimens for laboratory testing according to physicians’ orders.
- Obtains needed supplies.
- Verifies patient identification.
- Prepares skin site and performs venipunctures according to established aseptic techniques.
- Labels specimens and transports it to Laboratory for analysis.
