Requirements

• Current State of California Phlebotomist License
• Current American Heart Association BCLS certificate
• Ability to perform venipuncture, skin puncture and EKGs
• Ability to handle medical specimens
• Conform to Universal Infection Control Procedures

Responsibilities

• Collecting and processing specimens for all patient ages including, but not limited to blood, urine, feces, sputum, pathological specimens, cultures from wounds, and semen.
• Performing phlebotomy and EKG’s on patients aged newborn through geriatric, in all units of the Hospital including but not limited to: Intensive Care, Emergency, and Medical/Surgical.
• Entering patient demographics and laboratory information into the laboratory computer system.
• May participate in gathering of Quality Assurance Data.
• May perform some laboratory testing under the direct supervision of a licensed Clinical Lab Scientist.
• Performing duties consistent with the California Phlebotomy Regulations.
