About The Position
The Phlebotomist validates patient orders and specimen information in the Laboratory computer system with regular guidance, processes and collects patient specimens, and responds to inquiries for laboratory information. The role provides patient care, handles delivery and receipt of specimens in the laboratory area, orders and processes patient specimens, and relays patient test results to patient caregivers and other healthcare providers. Additional duties may be assigned. This position is part of Vanderbilt Health’s allied health workforce, which supports diagnostic and therapeutic care in a variety of settings. The role requires less than one year of relevant work experience and a high school diploma or GED. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Less than one year of relevant work experience.
- Fundamental awareness of specimen collection and phlebotomy.
- Fundamental awareness of quality assurance.
- Novice customer service capability, including clarifying customer needs, responding to requests, and keeping customers informed.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care.
- Deliver and receive specimens to and from the laboratory area.

- Validate patient orders and specimen information in the Laboratory computer system with regular guidance.
