About The Position

This is a full-time Phlebotomist position with an evening shift. The role requires proficiency in venipuncture attempts, ensuring correct specimen collection for required tests, and adhering strictly to patient identification and specimen labeling protocols. The phlebotomist will also take a leadership role in training new associates and students, demonstrate the ability to perform venipunctures on all age groups (infants, children, and adults), and manage collections in a timely manner. Knowledge of various collection equipment is essential.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an approved Phlebotomy program and/or have a minimum of one year of phlebotomy experience in an acute care hospital.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Proficient at 98% of venipuncture attempts.
• Assure that specimen collected is appropriate to test required (collect tube, amount of blood).
• Follow protocol for patient identification and specimen labeling at all times.
• Understand consequence of deviation from protocol.
• Take a leadership role in orientation and training of new Associates and students.
• Demonstrate consistent ability to perform venipunctures on infants and children as well as adults.
• Perform all collections in timely manner.
• Demonstrate knowledge of proper utilization of various types of equipment, i.e. syringe, butterflies, lancets, vacutainers, blood culture equipment.
