Phlebotomist (Level 1)
About The Position
This position is for a Phlebotomist (Level 1) at UW Health Swedish American Hospital. The role involves collecting biological specimens from patients and preparing them for laboratory analysis. The phlebotomist will work with patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly, and must be able to perform a variety of collection methods. The job requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The phlebotomist will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols, and accurately documenting patient information and specimen details.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a phlebotomy course and/or one year of phlebotomy experience.
- Must provide copy of HS diploma or equivalent, or highest level of completed degree obtained.
Nice To Haves
- Basic Life Support/CPR Certification.
Responsibilities
- Collect biological specimens from patients using appropriate techniques.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, ensuring proper labeling and handling.
- Perform venipuncture and capillary collections on patients of all ages.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Accurately document patient information and specimen details in the laboratory information system.
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and laboratory staff.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to specimen collection and processing.
- Participate in training and continuing education to maintain skills and knowledge.
