About The Position

Franciscan Health Lafayette East is seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join their team. This role is crucial for the collection of blood specimens, performing laboratory office duties, and processing laboratory specimens. The position involves registering patients, accurately entering data into the computer system, specimen accessioning, answering phone calls, and processing paperwork. Specimen processing includes preparing specimens for testing and shipment to central or reference laboratories. The individual will handle blood, body fluid, and urine specimens according to established procedures and may perform limited waived and specified non-waived Point-of-Care (POC) tests as authorized. In some facilities, this role may also include acting as a driver and participating in the on-call rotation.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training is required
Valid driver’s license and a good driving record

Background in a medical laboratory
Knowledge of medical terminology
May be required to travel/drive to other locations
