About The Position
This full-time Phlebotomist position is responsible for the accurate and timely collection of blood specimens according to departmental practices. The role involves ensuring accurate identification and delivery of patient samples, following proper safety and identification procedures, and contributing to the efficient operation of the department. The Phlebotomist will also protect themselves and others by following policies to prevent the spread of diseases and promote the professional image of the laboratories. They will provide age-appropriate specimen collection and adhere to Medical Center standards to foster a cooperative work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

- One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assures accurate and timely collection of blood specimens, according to departmental practices.
- Assures accurate identification and delivery of patient samples to appropriate lab sections.
- Follows proper safety and identification procedures when dealing with patients and/or specimens under any circumstance or environment.
- Improves work skills through self-study and continuing education.
- Contributes to the smooth and efficient operation of the section and department.
- Protects self, coworkers and facility by following approval policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood borne and/or airborne diseases.
- Exhibits and promotes the professional image of laboratories in accordance with hospital, department, and professional society philosophies, goals and standards of laboratory testing.
- Provides age-appropriate specimen collection in accordance with age specific guidelines for school age, adolescents, early adults, middle adults and/or late adults.
- Adheres to the general Medical Center standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
