Responsibilities
- Collect blood specimens through venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques
- Verify patient identification and ensure proper specimen labeling and handling
- Educate and assist patients with collection of urine, stool, and other specimens
- Transport and deliver specimens according to hospital and laboratory protocols
- Maintain laboratory supplies and assist with inventory management
- Follow infection prevention, safety, and PPE requirements
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, providers, and staff
- Perform waived testing as appropriate
- Support quality assurance and quality control processes
- Assist with orientation and mentoring of new team members
- Collaborate effectively with nursing, medical, clerical, and allied health staff
