To obtain blood samples from patients by venipuncture or skin puncture observing proper phlebotomy technique and patient identification policies. Exhibiting a caring and courteous manner to all patients and guests is required. Responding immediately to STAT requests and drawing other specimens in a timely manner. Requirements

• High School Diploma is required.
• Computer familiarity and keyboard skills are required.
• The phlebotomy activity requires manual dexterity with an excellent fine motor skills.
• Working with patients directly, a great deal of emphases is placed on patient interpersonal skills.
• Phlebotomy may require extended periods of standing bent over patients, walking throughout the hospital carrying a basket and using the stairs.
• Computer work in an average laboratory setting.
• May be required to enter isolation rooms using proper isolation technique including proper mask fitting.

Nice To Haves

• College or technical school courses are preferred.
• Previous phlebotomy experience preferred(2 years).
• Certification is phlebotomy is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• To obtain blood samples from patients by venipuncture or skin puncture observing proper phlebotomy technique and patient identification policies. Responding immediately to STAT requests and drawing other specimens in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates service excellence in all patient care activities exhibiting a caring and courteous manner to all patients and guests. Promotes teamwork and quality in all interactions with co-workers, physicians, physician offices, nurses and other departments. • Processing and receiving specimens into the laboratory computer system in the Central Processing area of the lab.
