About The Position
AvaMed Workforce is a Healthcare Staffing Agency that staffs all of California State Correctional Facilities. At the moment we are in URGENT need of a Phlebotomist to take on a Full-Time assignment at the correctional facility located in Blythe, CA.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- California Phlebotomist License
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and finger sticks using standard equipment to include vacutainer tubes and sleeves, tourniquets, blood culture, syringes and butterfly needles
- Communicate to patient/youth on the procedure to be done
- Collect and distribute specimens from patient/youth for laboratory testing per testing requirements
- Centrifuge, label and store blood samples for analysis by CCHCS Clinical Laboratory staff and/or external laboratory service providers
- Maintain inventory of supplies, stock supplies and hand trays
- Follow Institution written standard procedures, or follow standard phlebotomy practices for positive patient/youth identification
- Perform other duties as required including assisting Nurses, Medical providers, and/or laboratory personnel in obtaining blood from "hard to draw patients" and maintaining appropriate records of specimens drawn
- Obtain blood specimens from patient/youth under a variety of conditions
- Work under stress, critical, unusual or dangerous situations where speed and attention to detail are important aspects of the tasks
