About The Position

This position is for a Phlebotomist at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center – Kearney in Kearney, NE. The role is scheduled on an as needed basis, typically 12-18 hours per week, Monday - Friday. The ideal candidate will have completed a phlebotomy program with hands-on clinical rotation or have at least 1 year of experience drawing blood in a hospital or outpatient clinical setting. Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills required.

  • Computer experience required.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct patient care experience or completion of a phlebotomy course or phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification PBT (ASCP) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for collection and transportation of patient specimens for clinical laboratory testing adhering to department identification policies.
  • Perform, evaluate, and report patient specimens using point-of-care instrumentation.
  • Demonstrate behavioral skills that contribute to a productive work environment, represent the lab in a professional manner, and provide excellent customer service.
  • May process and distribute patient specimen for clinical laboratory testing.
