About The Position

This role involves collecting various types of specimens, including drug screens and blood samples, and processing pathology and cytology samples. The position requires accurate data entry for patient registration and test orders, handling billing information and payments, and processing specimens. The phlebotomist will also be responsible for maintaining logs, completing training, and potentially traveling for meetings or special projects. Adherence to company policies and procedures is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
  • One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, blood samples, and processing pathology and cytology samples.
  • Research test/client information and confirm/verify all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems or directory of services.
  • Accurately complete all data entry requirements, including patient registration and entry of test orders from requisitions.
  • Enter billing information and collect payments when required, safeguarding assets and credit card information.
  • Perform data entry and process specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as required.
  • Work iLabs for assigned accounts daily to ensure accurate data for billing.
  • Provide necessary CIR and PPE Resolution reporting to the Director as required and scheduled.
  • Perform departmental-related clerical duties such as data entry, inventory, stocking supplies, and answering phones.
  • Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures, ensuring staff compliance.
  • Perform verification of patient demographic info/initials and patient signature post-venipuncture to confirm tube labeling accuracy.
  • Assist with the compilation and submission of monthly statistics and data.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner, such as maintenance and temperature logs.
  • Complete training courses and stay up-to-date with the latest phlebotomy techniques.
  • Travel to Territory Manager meetings if held off-site or off normal shift.
  • Participate in special projects and teams.
  • Stay up-to-date on company communications.
