About The Position
The Phlebotomist orders and transmits lab orders in the computer system. Responsibilities include processing blood, urine, stool specimens according to Laboratory procedures. This is a Full Time, Benefit Eligible position working Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in Columbus, OH.
Requirements
- HS diploma or GED
- Phlebotomy certificate
- Strong phlebotomy and customer service skills

Responsibilities
- Ordering and transmitting lab orders in the computer system.
- Assisting in the care of patients prior to, during, and after phlebotomy.
- Communicating with patients of all ages in a manner that promotes a comfortable and professional atmosphere.
- Verifying patient name and date of birth before performing blood draws.
- Correcting any diagnosis errors that flag in the system.
- Performing blood draws.
- Placing patient name and date of birth on tube(s) in front of the patient.
- Having knowledge of all routine containers and minimum volumes required for collection.
- Processing of blood and urine specimens.
- Stocking inventory and maintaining a clean work area.
- Disposing of biohazard material in the correct container.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Attending required meetings and participating as requested.
- Performing all other assigned duties.
