The Phlebotomist performs phlebotomy using standard techniques for venipunctures, heel sticks, and finger sticks. This role also involves providing instruction and/or assistance with the collection of non-blood specimens. Key responsibilities include collecting and processing patient specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures and within expected timeframes, both on and off site as required. The Phlebotomist is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the work area and ensuring adequate supplies for efficient laboratory operations. Additionally, they perform laboratory support duties such as order entry, registration, and specimen receiving to ensure efficient operations. There is also a possibility to mentor students in phlebotomy, utilizing Allegheny Health Network (AHN) policies and procedures.
