About The Position

To support U.S Urology Partners by assisting with routine lab procedures and collection of specimens. U.S. Urology Partners is one of the nation’s largest independent providers of urology and related specialty services, including general urology, surgical procedures, advanced cancer treatment, and other ancillary services. Through Central Ohio Urology Group, Associated Medical Professionals of NY, Urology of Indiana, New Jersey Urology and Florida Urology Center, the U.S. Urology Partners clinical network now consists of more than 50 offices throughout the East Coast and Midwest, including a state-of-the-art, urology-specific ambulatory surgery center that is one of the first in the country to offer robotic surgery. Requirements

  • One year of medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Thorough knowledge in computer information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains timely flow of patients
  • Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination.
  • Takes and documents patient histories including medications and drug allergies, height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse
  • Assists physicians with procedures and collection of specimens
  • Draws blood, collects urine samples, performs office lab procedures and documents results, and coordinates all specimen requests and reports to and from various laboratories.
  • Pull charts for lab reports to be reviewed and signed by physicians
  • Cleans and sterilizes equipment.
  • Performs quality control measures and documentation.
  • Prepares and replenishes supplies.
  • Maintains inventory
  • Instructs patient regarding preparation for tests.
  • Provides information and pamphlets
  • Requests and assists with formal consent when required
  • Receives and organizes the handling of medication samples, checks expiration dates and disposes outdated medications accordingly
  • Disposes of contaminated and disposable items
  • Mails normal PSA result and annual exam reminder cards
  • Attends required meetings
  • Participates in professional development activities
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality
  • Performs other duties as assigned
