About The Position
Supports completion of pre-admission testing by performing venipuncture for bloodwork, electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, height and weight for each patient as ordered by the provider.
Requirements
- Performs venipuncture
- Positive patient identification using the two-identifier system
- Enters Computerized Laboratory Order Entry in Softlab
- Releases Epic orders and Softlab orders
- Transcribes orders as needed into Epic system from paper forms
- Performs correct test as ordered by the provider
- Uses laboratory references to ensure correct testing codes and correct collection tubes/ containers are utilized
- Contacts provider for prescription or order clarification as needed
- Maintains asepsis
- Disposes of sharps properly
- Properly labels tubes
- Sends tubes to the OP Lab for processing
- Performs electrocardiogram (EKG)
- Performs vital signs including, temperature, pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, height and weight
- Communicates abnormal EKG/vital signs to RN
Responsibilities

- Enters Computerized Laboratory Order Entry in Softlab as ordered by the provider. Releases Epic orders and Softlab orders.
- Transcribes orders as needed into Epic system from paper forms.
- Performs correct test as ordered by the provider. Uses laboratory references to ensure correct testing codes and correct collection tubes/ containers are utilized.

- Properly labels tubes and promptly sends tubes to the OP Lab for processing.
