Collects clinical laboratory specimens and performs tasks associated with patient registration, order entry, and specimen processing with general supervision. Performs waived testing with general supervision. Provides logistical support to team members and general assistance to customers. This role requires the ability to perform venipunctures and collect other specimens, explaining proper collection procedures to patients. The phlebotomist will clarify orders, perform registration, enter lab orders, and verify billing information. Processing, storing, and transporting specimens according to laboratory requirements are key duties. The position actively promotes HNL Lab Medicine’s values, exhibits excellent customer relations, and maintains up-to-date knowledge of specimen requirements and collection devices. Responsibilities also include maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies, ensuring a meticulous work area, assisting in training new staff, and participating in continuous service improvement and continuing education programs. The role involves recording and documenting necessary expense reimbursement and providing on-call and mobile services as required. Travel to sites within 25 miles of the base location may be necessary for coverage. Per diem work is determined by departmental needs and employee availability, with flexibility being an expectation.
