This part-time Phlebotomist position is responsible for verifying patient identification, assessing patient reactions to specimen procurement, and performing venipuncture and collecting other specimens from patients of all ages. The role also involves performing limited testing, answering telephone calls, accepting and processing specimens for transport and testing, ordering and verifying test requests, documenting information for quality assurance, running quality control checks, notifying providers of critical results, performing laboratory result entry, and conducting proficiency testing. Additionally, the Phlebotomist will instruct employees and students in phlebotomy and related functions and must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served.
