The Phlebotomist will be responsible for collecting clinical laboratory specimens, including human blood and other body fluids, as well as specimens like stool and urine for AIC testing requested by a clinician. This involves performing routine venipuncture and capillary procedures, instructing patients on proper specimen collection, and processing and transporting specimens. Processing includes centrifugation, spin down, mixing, and preparing specimens for shipment. The role also involves handling infectious and bio-hazardous waste, assisting laboratory staff with various tasks such as data entry into a laboratory information system, preparing paperwork, and managing laboratory supplies. Additionally, the Phlebotomist will maintain required competency training, keep an inventory of needles and syringes, scan medical records, assist primary providers in the urgent care room with basic medical equipment, and conduct routine checks of equipment and temperature logs. Maintaining a daily sick call list is also part of the duties.
