About The Position

Under general supervision of Laboratory management and technologists, performs venipuncture/finger sticks on patients to acquire specimens for laboratory processing/diagnostic testing in all sections in accordance with section policies and procedures to aid in treatment of disease. Labels and prepares all appropriate receptacles for blood collection. Observes patients/donors of specimens/samples during phlebotomy; initiates remedial action when noting adverse reaction/behaviors. Maintains accurate daily records of phlebotomy performed. Enters requisite data into computerized system and completes all relevant medical documentation. Sets up and prepares all relevant equipment and supplies. Maintains cleanliness of equipment/general working area; stocks area supplies. Ensures proper functioning of area; reports problems to supervisors. Supports area providing clinical diagnostic testing of all age groups in accordance with quality assurance/CQI and regulatory guidelines; may provide special blood drawing for pediatric patients (1-12 years) and oncology patients.

Requirements

  • Per diem offsite role
  • Experience in phlebotomy

  • Ability to complete medical documentation
