About The Position

Carter BloodCare is expanding its dynamic team of Phlebotomists. This is an opportunity for individuals passionate about helping others, committed to delivering the highest care and customer service to our donors, and willing to learn. We currently have openings for Phlebotomists on our Mobile Collections and donor center teams. Mobile Collections teams travel to different locations for blood drives, providing a unique opportunity to connect with different donors daily. Donor Center teams are located throughout North, Central and East Texas and have an opportunity to build relationships with regular donors. This role is essential to the procurement process of safe and quality blood products.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Six months of general work experience OR comparable education in the medical field, such as an internship or externship.
Customer service experience
Ability to move about the work area to handle donors and access equipment, including standing, sitting, walking, stooping and working in confined spaces and narrow aisles.
Ability to ascend and descend stairs/steps to enter and exit transport vehicles.
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend in order to set up blood collection equipment and access the equipment during use.
Ability to move and set up blood collection equipment/supplies weighing up to 25 pounds daily.
Ability to partner carry all items over 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds (Donor Center Phlebotomists).
Ability to partner carry all items over 25 pounds and up to 120 pounds (Mobile Collections Phlebotomists).
Flexibility to work irregular shifts, long hours, and adapt to frequent schedule changes.
Exposed to potentially infectious blood and blood products on a daily basis.
Normal vision requirements include ability to see close and distant objects, adjust focus, distinguish colors, and judge distance.
Regularly exposed to cleaning chemicals, including bleach.

Responsibilities

Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand the impact of their donation.
Collaborate with teammates to create a friendly environment so volunteer donors feel comfortable returning and encouraging their friends/family to donate.
Be detail-oriented to ensure that the blood collected meets regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused.
Work with the team to move, set up, and take down equipment at mobile blood drives.
Load and unload vehicles, push carts/dollies, handle equipment and cases in various weather conditions.
Assist donors who are experiencing a reaction.
Communicate with donors to obtain medical history and monitor them during donation.
Understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
Apply common sense in performing the job.
Understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines.
Express or exchange ideas by communicating professionally with others through spoken word, email, text, or written report.
Adapt to changing environments, including changing processes/procedures.
Work effectively in high stress situations.
