About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Phlebotomist to join their team of medical professionals in the Easterling Correctional Facility and Clio, Alabama. As a Phlebotomist, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the patients. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex needs. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a phlebotomy technician training program.
• Proficiency in blood collection techniques, strong communication, and attention to detail
• Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• Able to work independently and in a team
• Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
• Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
• Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Responsibilities

• Collects blood and other specimens from patients for laboratory testing, ensuring accurate patient identification, sample labeling, and proper handling to maintain specimen integrity.
• Performs venipuncture and finger sticks on patients, adhering to safety protocols.
• Labels specimens accurately, processes them for testing, and operates centrifuges.
• Verifies patient identity, explains procedures to reduce anxiety, and ensures patient comfort.
• Cleans and sterilizes equipment, restocks supplies, and manages hazardous waste according to OSHA/CLIA standards.
• Enters patient information and test orders into databases and requisitions.
