About The Position

Carter BloodCare is expanding its dynamic team of Phlebotomists. This is an opportunity for individuals new to the healthcare industry or those looking to make a change. No experience is required; the company seeks passionate individuals committed to helping others, delivering excellent care and customer service to donors, and willing to learn. Openings are available for Phlebotomists on both Mobile Collections and donor center teams. Mobile Collections teams travel to various locations for blood drives, offering daily interaction with diverse donors. Donor Center teams are located throughout North, Central, and East Texas, providing opportunities to build relationships with regular donors. This role is essential to the procurement of safe and quality blood products.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months of general work experience OR comparable education in the medical field, such as an internship or externship.
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information.
  • Ability to apply common sense in performing job.
  • Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines.
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas by communicating professionally with others through the spoken word, email, text, or written report.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing environment including changing processes/procedures and work effectively in high stress situations.
  • Normal vision requirements include ability to see close and distant objects, adjust focus, distinguish colors, and judge distance.

Responsibilities

  • Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand the impact of their donation.
  • Collaborate with teammates to create a friendly environment for volunteer donors.
  • Ensure collected blood meets regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused.
  • Work with the team to move, set up, and take down equipment at mobile blood drives.
  • Handle donors and access equipment, including standing, sitting, walking, and stooping.
  • Ascend and descend stairs/steps to enter and exit transport vehicles.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend to set up and access equipment during use.
  • Communicate with donors to obtain medical history and monitor them during donation.
  • Exchange accurate information with donors.
  • Move and set up blood collection equipment/supplies weighing up to 25 pounds daily.
  • Partner carry items over 25 pounds (up to 50 pounds for Donor Center Phlebotomists, up to 120 pounds for Mobile Collections Phlebotomists).
  • Periodically assist donors experiencing a reaction.
  • Frequently load and unload vehicles.
  • Periodically push carts/dollies weighing up to approximately 250 pounds.
  • Handle various types of equipment and cases in all weather conditions, including adverse weather.
  • Adapt to frequent schedule changes.
  • Understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
  • Apply common sense in performing job duties.
  • Follow basic instructions and guidelines.
  • Express or exchange ideas by communicating professionally through spoken word, email, text, or written report.
