About The Position

The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood, and non-blood, specimens using appropriate blood collection equipment according to the Laboratory Specimen Collection Manual and Phlebotomy Procedures. The role involves interpreting physician orders, collecting specimens from patients of all ages, handling and processing lab specimens, and adhering to safe practices. Additional duties may include performing outpatient EKGs, operating a centrifuge, ensuring proper specimen transfer and storage, communicating with schedulers and managers, and traveling between sites as needed. The position requires ongoing compliance with Network and departmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a phlebotomy school with a minimum of 100 successful hours.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Effective independent judgement in the performance of the assigned duties.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of secondary education preferred.
  • At least 1 year of Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Traveling between sites when needed.
  • Reviewing and complying with all Network and departmental policies and procedures.
