The Phlebotomist/Specimen Processor performs phlebotomy and specimen processing, including obtaining blood specimens from patients of all age groups and preparing laboratory specimens for transport to the testing lab. The position also draws blood in the Emergency Room, outpatient department, and clinics as needed, and provides backup coverage for the main hospital lab.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Program or Medical Assisting Program, or a minimum of 6 months of full-time phlebotomy experience.

Nice To Haves

• ASCP or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood specimens from all age groups by venipuncture and capillary methods.
• Provide direction and education for the collection of urine, stool, and other laboratory specimens.
• Process and prepare laboratory specimens for transport to the testing lab.
• Perform blood draws in the Emergency Room, outpatient department, and clinics as needed.
• Provide backup coverage for the main hospital lab.
