This role provides phlebotomy services for the hospital or off-site locations. The Phlebotomist performs venipunctures, heel punctures, and capillary sticks using specified techniques to ensure patient and employee safety, and maintains specimen integrity for quality test results. Responsibilities also include collecting other laboratory specimens, triaging incoming specimens, accessioning, labeling, and distributing them appropriately. The role involves significant data entry for specimen identification and accessioning, organizing workload, prioritizing orders, and running outstanding reports. Additionally, the Phlebotomist provides troubleshooting for order issues, specimen collections, and rejection protocols, and fills out appropriate specimen logs.
