Phlebotomist/Processor
About The Position
We are seeking a friendly and energetic Phlebotomist/Processor with excellent people skills to enhance our team. Ideal candidates will have a collaborative spirit and a commitment to supporting both our patients and our team’s goals. This role involves administrative duties such as customer service and answering phones, technical responsibilities including performing venipuncture and obtaining other specimen types, accurate data management, specimen handling and processing, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols and HIPAA policies. Flexibility in covering shifts at different sites and maintaining reliable attendance are crucial for smooth operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 6 months of on-the-job phlebotomy and/or pre-analytical specimen processing experience required
- Ability to pass a standardized color vision test required
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license
- Clean driving record
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn laboratory information systems
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet turnaround time expectations
- Dependability, adaptability, and willingness to support evolving laboratory needs
- Commitment to patient safety, quality, and confidentiality
Nice To Haves
- Phlebotomy certification is preferred
Responsibilities
- Providing excellent customer service, answering phones, and monitoring for instrumentation alarms.
- Performing venipuncture for blood collection, obtaining additional specimen types as required, and preparing all samples for lab testing and screening.
- Verifying specimen information, performing data entry, and properly identifying patient information.
- Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity.
- Following safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participating in quality assurance.
- Covering work shifts at different sites as needed to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintaining consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance to ensure continuity of operations and support for our team and patients.
