Phlebotomist/Processor
About The Position
We are seeking a friendly and energetic Phlebotomist/Processor with excellent people skills to enhance our team. Ideal candidates will have a collaborative spirit and a commitment to supporting both our patients and our team’s goals. This role involves administrative duties such as customer service and monitoring alarms, technical responsibilities including blood collection and specimen preparation, accurate data management, specimen handling, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations. The position also requires flexibility to cover different work sites and a commitment to reliable attendance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior hands-on experience in phlebotomy and/or pre-analytical specimen processing required
- Ability to pass a standardized color vision test required
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn laboratory information systems
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet turnaround time expectations
- Dependability, adaptability, and willingness to support evolving laboratory needs
- Commitment to patient safety, quality, and confidentiality
- Lifting up to 15 pounds, bending, reaching, and occasional stress related to turnaround time pressures
Nice To Haves
- Phlebotomy certification is preferred
Responsibilities
- Performing venipuncture for blood collection
- Obtaining additional specimen types as required
- Preparing all samples for lab testing and screening
- Verifying specimen information
- Performing data entry
- Properly identifying patient information
- Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity
- Following safety protocols, HIPAA policies, and Medicare rules
- Participating in quality assurance
- Covering work shifts at different sites as needed
- Maintaining consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance
- Providing excellent customer service
- Answering phones
- Monitoring for instrumentation alarms
