About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join our team as a Float Phlebotomist. The ideal candidate will be reliable, flexible, and adaptable, with the ability to seamlessly provide coverage across multiple clinic locations. This position requires someone who can quickly adjust to changing schedules, clinic environments, patient populations, and daily demands. Pediatric experience is preferred, as this position will provide coverage for pediatric clinics. Candidates should also be comfortable drawing all types of patients, as you will work across a variety of clinic settings.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of on-the-job phlebotomy experience required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record required
  • Must be able to distinguish colors and successfully pass a vision acuity test in compliance with CAP regulations
  • Must be reliable and flexible
  • Must be adaptable and good at problem solving
  • Must be friendly and able to work well in a team and individually
  • Fast and willing learner
  • Comfortable drawing all sorts of patients and working across a variety of clinic environments
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple responsibilities effectively
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, twist, and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the day
  • Frequent bending, extended standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric experience is preferred
  • Pediatric phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Point-of-care testing (POCT) experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performing venipuncture for blood collection
  • Obtaining additional specimen types as required
  • Preparing all samples for lab testing and screening, with a focus on pediatric patients
  • Verifying specimen information, performing data entry, and properly identifying patient information
  • Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity
  • Following safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participating in quality assurance activities
  • Providing excellent customer service to patients and families
  • Answering phones
  • Monitoring for instrumentation alarms
  • Supporting clinic operations and assisting with coverage as needed to ensure smooth day-to-day workflow
  • Maintaining consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance to ensure continuity of operations and support for our team and patients
