About The Position

Interpath Laboratory is seeking an experienced Phlebotomist/Processor with excellent people skills to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a collaborative spirit and a commitment to supporting both patient and team goals. This role involves administrative duties such as customer service and monitoring alarms, technical responsibilities like venipuncture and sample preparation, accurate data management, specimen handling, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols and HIPAA policies. Flexibility to cover shifts at different sites may also be required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of on-the-job phlebotomy experience, or completion of two terms of phlebotomy coursework plus six months of hands-on experience.
  • Stable work history with minimal employment gaps strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients and team members.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; able to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, twist, and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the day.
  • Frequent bending, extended standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a laboratory setting with automated equipment.
  • Ability to hear alarms to ensure timely response to safety needs.
  • Regular handling of potentially infectious samples, with required protective gear (lab coat, gloves, goggles, face shield).

Responsibilities

  • Providing excellent customer service, answering phones, and monitoring for instrumentation alarms.
  • Performing venipuncture for blood collection, obtaining additional specimen types as required, and preparing all samples for lab testing and screening.
  • Verifying specimen information, performing data entry, and properly identifying patient information.
  • Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity.
  • Following safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participating in quality assurance.
  • Covering work shifts at different sites as needed to ensure smooth operations.
