About The Position

The Phlebotomist collects the proper specimens from the patient, i.e., blood, urine, cultures, etc., according to the physician’s order, ensuring specimen integrity. This position follows standard operating procedures for positive patient ID, collection, labeling, processing, and handling of appropriate specimens ensuring patient safety while maintaining customer focus. May be performing draws in either Outpatient Facilities or Nursing Home Facilities.

Requirements

Proof of completion of accredited phlebotomy, military medic, medical assistant or EMT course.
Completion of one of the above or 1 year recent phlebotomy experience.
Current BLS certification in compliance with policy required.
Access to a vehicle and current driver’s license from any state is required.
Acknowledgement with signature to “Attestation A” of Meritus Vehicle Management Use and Control policy, which includes guidelines for personal insurance coverage requirements.
Possess the ability to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s/department’s policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

Preferred certification in phlebotomy, medical assistant or EMT.
Understanding of medical terminology desirable.
