As a Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant, internally known as a Lab Services Specialist, at one of their offices focusing on the Senior Health member population (age 65+), you will provide an exceptional patient experience and support their care journey through venipuncture and other clinical services. Reporting to the Operations Manager and collaborating with providers and administrative assistants, you will be a key part of the patient's primary care team. You will maintain high standards for specimen collection and processing, offering a personalized and calming experience for patients. Utilizing a growth mindset, you will adapt to evolving technology and workflows in modern healthcare while delivering human-centered care. You are a strong team player with innovative problem-solving skills, combining excellent specimen collection techniques with tactful interpersonal skills. You have a strong drive to help others and create positive experiences for members and teammates.

Requirements

  • Graduated from a postsecondary Medical Assistant program (accredited by either the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)) OR completed relevant Medical Assistant training by any branch of the armed forces OR possess a Medical Assistant certification issued by a certifying organization accredited by either the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute
  • At least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of a training/externship environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, bilingual applicants encouraged to apply
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in computer technology such as typing, navigating the internet and using multiple software systems simultaneously
  • Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams (additional experience with remote teams a plus)
  • A proven ability to display confidence and instill trust during the collection process while delivering individualized, human-centered, customer-focused care
  • A proven track record of persisting through change, consistently stepping up to take action on challenges, and learning quickly and effectively when faced with new situations or tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Spanish / English verbal and written communication skills is preferred
  • Phlebotomy experience and/or certification preferred
  • Experience with extended scope care including but not limited to non-blood specimen collection and processing, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide best in class venipuncture services on a population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics
  • Perform and assist with extended scope duties such as, but not limited to non-blood specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs
  • Maintain high standards of in-office care through proper specimen labeling, handling and processing, inventory upkeep, and tool sterilization
  • Continue to care for our members beyond the lab room by answering patient messages, following up on lab cases and assisting our providers and virtual medical team with clerical duties such as, but not limited to biometric screening forms, medical record and consult review, billing inquiries, and DOH reporting
  • Master our technology suite including, but not limited to Slack, G-suite, Zoom, and our Electronic Medical Record System 1Life, in order to interact with team members and complete daily work

  • Competitive salary: the base pay for this position is $21.50-$23.50 per hour based on a full time schedule
