The Phlebotomist III - Per Diem position at Northwest Community Hospital involves proficiently performing accurate venipuncture and capillary specimen collection for all inpatients and outpatients across all age groups. The role requires correct patient identification and accurate specimen labeling, utilizing the Rover device when appropriate. Responsibilities may extend to collecting body fluid or other samples, such as nasal and throat swabs, and breath samples. The position also includes preparing and processing blood and body fluid samples, assisting in the orientation and training of phlebotomy staff and students, and identifying and addressing problems. Additional duties involve assisting with inventory management, ensuring timely and appropriate response to customer requests for Laboratory services, providing phone coverage, and maintaining a professional appearance and behavior. The Phlebotomist III serves as a resource to other team members, assists in training, practices Standard Precautions, adheres to safety standards, and maintains organized records.
