About The Position

This role requires the ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment, working independently with minimal on-site supervision. The phlebotomist must possess excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections. Flexibility is essential, as the role requires availability based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call duties, and overtime. Commitment to all company Policies & Procedures, including dress code, Employee Health & Safety, and Everyday Excellence Guiding Principles, is mandatory. The individual must be able to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment. Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record are necessary if applicable. Travel and flexible hours are required to work multiple locations and cover Patient Service Center/In-Office Phlebotomy locations with minimal notice. The ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting is crucial. Superior Customer Focus, open and transparent communication with peers, supervisors, and patients, the ability to embrace change, and knowledge of the business are key attributes. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic training is preferred. Phlebotomy certification is preferred but required in California, Nevada, and Washington. 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience is required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections. 2+ years in a Patient Service Center environment is preferred. Customer service experience in a retail or service environment is highly preferred. Keyboard and data entry experience is also required.

Responsibilities

  • Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures.
  • Create an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures to patients and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and accurate manner.
  • Demonstrate Leadership Behaviors while focusing on process excellence skills and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy to patient information.
  • Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe and professional environment.
  • Perform with confidence both the forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
  • Perform verification of patient demographic info and initials including patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
  • Maintain required records and documentation.
  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, employees and the public.
