About The Position

The Phlebotomist II collects and processes specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screenings, and insurance exams. The role also administers oral solutions after appropriate training, verifies test and client information using laboratory technology systems and other approved tools, and enters patient and billing information accurately. The position includes patient-facing and non-patient-facing duties, such as specimen preparation, supply inventory, sanitizing, filing, answering phones, and email use. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with rotational weekends. The role is based in Rockwall, Texas, and pays $20.80 or more per hour.

Requirements

At least three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Keyboard and data-entry experience.
Flexibility and availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call work, and overtime.
Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record, if applicable.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to effectively communicate in English.

Nice To Haves

Medical assistant or paramedic training is preferred.
Phlebotomy certification is preferred; certification is required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Responsibilities

Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screenings, and insurance exams.
Administer oral solutions according to established training.
Research test and client information and confirm and verify written and electronic orders using laboratory technology systems, client contact, and approved tools.
Navigate a computer and accurately enter data.
Obtain identification, accurately enter billing information, and collect payments when required in accordance with corporate policies.
Process specimens by labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparing them for transport as required by the test order.
Perform non-patient-facing duties, including inventory, stocking supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones, and using email as appropriate.
Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
Assist with compiling and submitting statistics and data when required.
Maintain appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner, including maintenance and temperature logs as applicable.
Complete online and in-person training courses on time.
