About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Phlebotomist II in Des Moines, Iowa. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with rotational weekend work. Pay starts at $20.00 per hour. Salary offers consider relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, and market and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation. The role collects and processes specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screenings, and insurance exams. It also involves administering oral solutions, verifying test and client information and orders using laboratory technology and approved tools, accurately entering data, and handling billing information and payments when required. Additional duties include maintaining supplies and records, sanitizing, answering phones, using email, assisting with statistics and data, and completing required training.
Requirements
- Three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Keyboard and data-entry experience.
- Flexibility and availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call work, and overtime.
- Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record, if applicable.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English.
Nice To Haves
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Responsibilities
- Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screenings, and insurance exams.
- Administer oral solutions according to established training.
- Research test and client information and confirm and verify written and electronic orders using laboratory technology systems, client contact, and approved tools.
- Navigate a computer and accurately enter data.
- Obtain identification, accurately enter billing information, and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
- Process specimens by labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparing them for transport as required by the test order.
- Perform non-patient-facing duties, including inventory, stocking supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones, and using email as appropriate.
- Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Assist with compiling and submitting statistics and data when required.
- Maintain appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner, including maintenance and temperature logs.
- Complete online and in-person training courses on time.
