About The Position
The Phlebotomist II - Tier 2 position is a Per Diem role located at Evanston Hospital. This role involves performing a variety of routine and special phlebotomy procedures, ordering tests into laboratory and hospital computer systems, documenting specimen receipt, and collecting blood samples while ensuring appropriate volume and correct tubes are utilized. The position requires adherence to test requirements and age-appropriate patient care. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred or equivalent work experience
- CPR-BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider required by the AHA
- PBT (ASCP) certification preferred
- Phlebotomy training experience strongly preferred
- Good communication and organization skills
- Moderate computer skills needed
- Reliable transportation to travel between sites required
- Strong customer service skills
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of routine and special phlebotomy procedures as authorized by the Supervisor/Manager/Director
- Responsible for ordering tests into the Laboratory and Hospital computer systems and documenting Lab receipt of specimens
- Collect patient specimens in accordance with test requirements and in a manner which is appropriate for the age and/or specific patient population served
- Collect blood samples for specific tests ensuring volume is adequate and correct tubes are utilized
