The Phlebotomist I is responsible for obtaining blood and other specimens for laboratory testing according to established policies and procedures from any location where patients may be present. This includes obtaining necessary supplies, verifying patient identification, preparing skin sites, and performing venipuncture and skin punctures using aseptic techniques. The role also involves labeling specimens and transporting them to the laboratory for analysis. The Phlebotomist I works both independently and as part of a team, performing clerical and/or computer duties related to the laboratory, and ensuring timely specimen collection and routing. Maintaining professional relationships with patients, staff, and physicians is also a key aspect of this role. Duties may vary based on the assigned area and/or shift.
