This position is ECB status, requiring a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department, and offers limited benefit offerings. The role involves performing venipunctures, arterial punctures, and capillary sampling to obtain blood samples for laboratory testing. Responsibilities also include entering orders for testing and accessioning specimens in the computer system. The Phlebotomist I supports the general operation of the Laboratory and exercises independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established. The position involves direct interaction with patients, internal and external customers, and other healthcare professionals and staff. This role has been identified as a safety-sensitive position under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act (OMMA).
