About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Phlebotomist I in East Boston, MA. This position is responsible for performing blood collection on patients and ensuring accurate labeling of specimens. The role involves interacting with patients, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and adhering to all safety and regulatory guidelines. The Phlebotomist I will also be responsible for processing specimens, performing basic laboratory tests, and maintaining patient records.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program.
- Certification as a phlebotomist (e.g., ASCP, AMT).
- Experience in phlebotomy or a related healthcare field.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures.
- Proficiency in venipuncture and capillary blood collection techniques.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic computer skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR).
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols.
- Customer service experience in a healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood collection on patients using appropriate techniques.
- Ensure accurate labeling of all specimens collected.
- Interact with patients in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Adhere to all safety and regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA.
- Process specimens for laboratory testing.
- Perform basic laboratory tests as required.
- Maintain patient records and documentation.
- Follow established procedures for specimen handling and transport.
