About The Position
The Phlebotomist I position at Glenbrook Hospital is a full-time role responsible for performing a variety of routine and special phlebotomy procedures. This includes ordering tests into the Laboratory and Hospital computer systems, documenting specimen receipt, and collecting patient specimens in a manner appropriate for the patient population served. The role requires collecting blood samples with adequate volume and correct tubes for specific tests.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- CPR-BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider required from AHA required
- Phlebotomy training experience strongly preferred
- Moderate computer skills needed
- Reliable transportation to travel between sites required
Nice To Haves
- PBT (ASCP) certification preferred
- Good communication and organization skills
- Strong customer service skills
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of routine and special phlebotomy procedures as authorized by the Supervisor/Manager/Director
- Responsible for ordering tests into the Laboratory and Hospital computer systems and documenting Lab receipt of specimens
- Collect patient specimens in accordance with test requirements and in a manner which is appropriate for the age and/or specific patient population served
- Collect blood samples for specific tests ensuring volume is adequate and correct tubes are utilized
