About The Position

This role involves drawing quality blood samples from patients, preparing specimens for lab testing, and creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence. The Phlebotomist Floater will provide coverage at multiple locations and for multiple roles, ensuring daily activities are completed accurately and on time. This position requires demonstrating leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence, and maintaining sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information. The role may involve directing daily activities in various environments such as doctor's offices, patient service centers, house calls, or long-term care facilities. The Phlebotomist Floater will also step in for other team members, lead staff members on-site, act as a coach and mentor for new employees, and serve as a point of contact for on-site staff. This position requires excellent phlebotomy skills to work with high complexity or volume practices, handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting, and collaborate with various functions including Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT connectivity, Billing, and Logistics. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential when interacting with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Keyboard and data entry experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic training is preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (Required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
  • Minimum 3 years in a PSC/IOP environment preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures.
  • Create an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures to patients and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner.
  • Provide coverage at multiple locations for multiple roles.
  • Ensure that daily activities of the Patient Service Center, Mobile, Long Term Care, or In-Office Phlebotomy are completed accurately and on time.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
  • Direct daily activity in various environments including doctor's offices, patient service centers, house call environments, or long-term care facilities as business needs dictate.
  • Step in for other team members and lead one or more staff members on site.
  • Act as a coach, mentor, instructor, and resource advisor for new employees and provide effective onboarding services to new clients.
  • Act as a point of contact to staff on site and provide regular input to the group lead or supervisor.
  • Work with customers who have high complexity or volume practices requiring outstanding phlebotomy skills.
  • Handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  • Collaborate with multiple functions such as Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT connectivity, Billing, and Logistics.
  • Maintain strong verbal and written communication skills when interacting with stakeholders.
