About The Position

This role involves collecting specimens, processing them, managing data entry, and ensuring accurate billing. The Phlebotomist Float will travel to various locations within Metro Atlanta to provide essential laboratory services. The position requires a high degree of accuracy, independence, and customer focus, adhering strictly to MAKO's policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.

  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver license, and clean driving record.
  • Must demonstrate superior customer focus.

  • Lift light to moderately heavy objects (1-40 pounds).
  • Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens including drug screens, blood samples, and processing pathology and cytology samples.
  • Research test/client information and confirm/verify all written and electronic orders.
  • Complete data entry requirements accurately, including patient registration and test orders.
  • Enter billing information and collect payments when required.
  • Process specimens: labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as needed.
  • Work iLabs daily for assigned accounts to ensure accurate data for billing.
  • Provide necessary CIR and PPE Resolution reporting to Director.
  • Perform departmental-related clerical duties such as data entry, inventory, stocking supplies, and answering phones.
  • Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Verify patient demographic information and signatures post-venipuncture.
  • Assist with compilation and submission of monthly statistics and data.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs (maintenance, temperature) in a timely manner.
  • Complete training courses and stay up-to-date with the latest phlebotomy techniques.
  • Travel to Territory Manager meetings if held off-site or off normal shift.
  • Participate in special projects and teams.
  • Stay up-to-date on company communications.
