About The Position

This is a driving position that requires a Texas Driver's License and a good driving record. The role involves traveling to mobile blood drive locations, interacting with donors, and performing blood collection procedures. The Phlebotomist Driver is responsible for donor screening, blood collection, donor care, and supporting mobile blood drive operations from setup to breakdown. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with people, adapt to changing environments, and are committed to making a meaningful impact. Successful candidates must possess a valid Texas driver's license and be willing to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within one year of employment. The schedule is flexible, based on blood drive operations, with shifts potentially starting as early as 5:00 AM or ending as late as 10:00 PM, offering two days off each week.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum six (6) months of phlebotomy experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience performing venipuncture, donor screening, and blood collection procedures preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with diverse populations.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record that meets organizational standards.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within one (1) year of employment.
  • Ability to work in a mobile environment, including travel to various blood drive locations and assisting with equipment setup and breakdown.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed procedures, maintain accurate records, and comply with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Phlebotomy Certification strongly preferred.
  • EMT Certification or licensure in a related healthcare field preferred.
  • Occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.

Responsibilities

  • Perform donor registration verification, health history review, and pre-donation screening in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conduct venipuncture and blood collection procedures utilizing approved phlebotomy techniques.
  • Monitor donors throughout the donation process and provide post-donation care and instructions.
  • Identify, respond to, and escalate donor reactions or non-routine situations as appropriate.
  • Ensure donor safety, comfort, and satisfaction throughout the donation experience.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to donors, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Create a welcoming and professional environment that promotes donor retention and engagement.
  • Educate donors regarding the donation process and address questions or concerns.
  • Represent the organization positively at mobile blood drives and community events.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, transportation, setup, and breakdown of equipment and supplies at mobile collection sites.
  • Prepare donation areas to meet safety, operational, and quality requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of collection equipment and workspaces.
  • Accurately complete donor records and required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and quality standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and safeguard donor information.
  • Participate in required training, continuing education, and competency assessments.
  • Maintain proficiency in blood collection procedures and equipment operation.
  • Support team members to ensure efficient workflow and successful blood drive operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
